Information about the Project
This Erasmus+ funded project is aimed at pointing out mutual intercultural understanding and acceptance while helping students learn more about their own history and about the history of their partners. It also reinforced the development of key-competences such as language learning, creativity and digital skills. It aimed to help students learn important characteristics of their own culture and to underline the importance of preserving one's own cultural heritage in an enjoyable way. Moreover, students learned about other cultures by collaborating with their European peers, and as a result they gained a more holistic idea about history and culture. They understood the invaluable importance of cultural heritage maintenance and mutual intercultural respect. All topics were dealt with a cooperative approach, in which bridges were built between students, teachers, the local community, external organizations and stakeholders (municipalities, museums, NGOs, etc). This way, our schools were open to society, we gained useful knowledge and built a strong network for future reference. This project raised our schools' profile and the long-term vision to transform our unit into a society-open learning hub. Students improved the attainment of communicative and collaborative skills, empathy, cultural understanding and critical thinking. In order to better achieve this goal, during exchanges, students were hosted by their partners. This way they expanded their horizons, they learned from each other and they will convey a positive and cohesive message for Europe and its citizens.
We are four secondary education schools, with pupils from 11 to 15 (a few of 16).
- a German school, coordinating, located in Altentreptow ;
- a Spanish school, in Vigo ;
- a Polish school, in Koszalin ;
- a Greek school, in Larisa ;
We have already worked together and organized transnational activities, between our different classes and disciplines. European Weeks were organized in each school to present ambassadors pupils, exposing the projects'advances in their school.
The big success of the project was that despite the difficult conditions caused by the pandemic of Covid-19 we managed to arrange all the mobilities planned in the Erasmus application.
The project was written in English and the collaboration was in English but we tried to learn some basic words from the partners, before and during the exchange.
The students communicated through various channels of social media (whatsapp, Instagram groups),via the Twinspace (eTwinning) and live conferences created by the teachers. The teachers as well collaborated via the aforementioned means very constantly. They also had very constant Skype sessions in order to arrange the details concerning the project.
Overall the project created strong bonds among students and teachers.
This project was awarded with 5 National Quality Labels by the eTwinning NSS of Germany (2), Greece (2) and Poland (1).
